Cut bread into slices. Cook spinach according to instructions, season with garlic, salt and pepper. Stir wine with whipped cream, soak the bread with it. Cut tomatoes into slices.

Layer cheese, spinach, bread slices and tomato slices alternately in a greased gratin dish, season. Cook in a heated oven at 175 degrees for about 45 minutes.

This speciality from the German-Swiss border region is best served with a Silvaner wine.
