For the cheese sticks, mix the butter with flour, grated cheese, baking powder, milk and egg to form a dough. Then let the dough rest.

Roll out the dough to the thickness of the back of a knife and cut out or wheel out narrow sticks. Brush the Stangerl with egg, sprinkle with cheese and twist into a spiral shape.

Bake the Stangerl until golden brown.
