For the basic sponge recipe, beat eggs and sugar a little, add water and candied lemon peel and mix well. Sift in flour and mix slowly.

Pour into a greased and floured (or lined with baking paper) pan and bake in a preheated oven.

tray: 200 °C, approx. 12 – 15 minutes, cake tin: 175 °C, approx. 30 – 35 minutes
