The fake rabbit is a childhood memory from the time when meat was available only on Sunday. But it is a delicacy and fun for young children. It is a kind of minced roast made from meatballs dough. It is shaped oblong like a rabbit’s back and wrapped in it – as a gag for toddlers two frankfurters and two hard-boiled eggs.

Finely dice the smoked bacon and fry briefly with the onions. Mix with the minced meat and knead. Squeeze the soaked ribs in lukewarm water and mix them in. Add pepper, parsley, salt and paprika. Shape into a long bun with the shape of a hare. Put the two frankfurters in the side and the two hard-boiled eggs in the middle, one after the other. This will make a face later. Then we wrap the whole thing and put the fake bunny in the well greased roaster. We roast for half an hour at 220 degrees in the heated stove. Then switch back to 200 degrees and roast for another half hour. Pour the “hare” with the clear soup. Unfortunately, you need to put it more often, but together with the gravy it gives a good sauce. Take out the finished “hare”, fold in the sour cream.

Finally, a tip: the false hare is a delicious snack, which can be prepared and brought to the table cooled down.

Our tip: use bacon with a fine smoky touch!
