A great cake recipe for any occasion:

Mix butter or possibly vanilla sugar, light butter, sugar and egg yolks until sugar is dissolved. Mix flour and cornflour with baking powder, sift and gradually fold into the meringue. Finally, fold in the stiff snow and gradually bake the batter in the waffle iron. Grease the hot waffle iron well and do not fill in too much batter at once. Serve the hearts sprinkled with sugar as fresh as possible.

Do not stack the waffles on top of each other, because they will become soft. The waffles taste just as good with jam or whipped cream.
