Cut meat and onion into cubes, potatoes into slices. Brown potatoes and onions in frying fat, season with pepper and season with salt.
Spread a fireproof dish with bacon slices, put meat, potatoes with herbs and onions in alternating layers, lastly a layer of potatoes. Pour whipped cream on top, cover the pâté with fat flakes and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in a hot oven for about 30 minutes, serve hot with green salad.
Author’s note: This is a dish for using leftovers, which does not require much effort. It can also be made with other stewed meat leftovers. Any leftover sauce is poured over the pâté.
