Plum Strudel with Cardamom Sauce

A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Cut the plums in half and remove the seeds. Let the butter melt.

Prepare the strudel dough according to the tip. Spread half of the jam on the lower third of the strudel dough. Leave the edges free.

Crumble half of the macaroons by hand and spread evenly on top of the jam. Top with half of the plums. Place bottom edge of dough over fruit, wrap sides. Roll up strudel using the cloth. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper with the seal side down. Cook the second strudel in the same way.

Preheat the stove to 200 °C. Meanwhile, bake the two strudels in the lower half of the oven for about 40 min, brushing a few times with the remaining melted butter. Mix the powdered sugar and cardamom. Dust the strudels with it while still warm and serve with cold cardamom sauce.

Cardamom sauce:

Bring milk to a boil with the coarsely crushed cardamom pods. Remove from heat and stand for ten minutes.

Beat eggs with sugar to a light, thick cream. Repeatedly bring milk to a boil. Stir through a sieve to form egg cream. Empty everything back into the frying pan and bring to a boil, stirring (must not make, of course!), until the desired thickness. Pour through a sieve into a suitable bowl and cool.
