Mix sugar, spice, light butter and eggs until creamy, whisk with the curd and spread through. Sift flour and baking powder over it and mix the dough with the prepared currants last. If the curd is very dry, add a little milk or sour cream. Bake at medium heat for about 60 minutes in a greased, dusted ash cake pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
