First separate the eggs. Put the yolks, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla sugar in a food processor and blend until fluffy.
Add yogurt in portions and drizzle in oil and lemon juice. Mix flour with baking powder, cinnamon and salt and sift into the batter.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Line the baking tray with baking paper and spread the batter evenly on it.
Top with cherries. Bake for 25 minutes and sprinkle the cooled wholemeal cherry cake with powdered sugar.
