For the homemade vanilla sugar, slit the vanilla beans lengthwise and scrape out the pulp. Mix the pulp into the sugar.

Pour half of the sugar into a container, put in the scraped vanilla beans and pour the second half of the sugar on top.

Close the jar tightly and let it stand for a few days. After that, the homemade vanilla sugar is to be used like the purchased one.
