For the porridge with cherries, remove the stones from the cherries. Simmer with approx. 150 – 200 ml water and possibly some cinnamon in a smaller saucepan over low-medium heat – depending on taste al dente or very soft to a compote (approx. 5 – 10 minutes).

Remove from heat briefly and stir in the milk and then the fine or ground oatmeal, stir vigorously and let the whole simmer gently. After a few minutes, turn the heat down to low and let thicken to desired consistency.

Stir occasionally to make sure nothing is sticking. Finely mash the banana with a fork and stir it into the almost finished porridge and let it sit for a short while.

The sweetness of the banana depends on the degree of ripeness. If you don’t like banana, you can also use raw cane sugar to taste. In this case, it is best to add the sugar to the cherry compote.
