In a wide beat butter with sugar and salt until thick and creamy. gradually fold in the eggs. Mix flour with baking powder and stir into the mixture alternately with the sour whipped cream. Finally, fold in ginger pieces and lime jelly. Line each of the twelve muffin cups with a paper sleeve. Fill in the batter evenly. Bake muffins in oven heated to 200 °C for 35 minutes until golden brown. Halfway through the baking time, lower the heat to 150 °C. For the decoration, peel the limes very thinly.

Cut the peel into thin strips. In a small saucepan, add two tablespoons water and one tablespoon sugar form. Gently simmer mixture over low heat until it starts to bubble (do not stir). Candied lime peel briefly in syrup. Remove with a fork. Cool on a lightly oiled plate. Decorate muffins with it.
