Instructions:

For the apple sauce, wash the apples and remove the core. Bring to the boil with the water and steam until soft. Then either pass through a sieve or puree with a hand blender.

Bring back to high heat and stir with the lemon juice, butter and nutmeg until smooth. Serve warm with game, roast ham or roast pork as an alternative to cranberries.
