[Preparation time: 20 min (+ in about 1 hour cooling and marinating)].
(1) Rinse peppers, cut in half, remove seeds and dividers. Place the pepper halves in a very hot oven or under the broiler with the bulge facing up. Roast until skin blisters. Remove, cover with a wet dishcloth and cool. Carefully peel off skin.
(2) If desired, collect juice from peeled peppers, mix with juice from one lemon. Peel 2 garlic cloves, cut into fine slices and fold in.
(3) Cut pepper halves into strips about 3 inches wide. Place on a platter, season with salt and coarsely season with pepper, drizzle evenly with prepared roasting juices and 6 tbsp. olive oil. Cover and let it marinate well.
* Skinning is more convenient in the microwave: prepare the pods as above, place on a plate and cook on the highest setting for about 3 minutes. The skin can now be removed very easily and quickly.
