For the sunken apple pie, wash the apples warm, rub dry, peel, cut in half and remove the core. Score the apple halves lengthwise a few times with a kitchen knife, i.e. cut narrow slices, do not cut through. Sprinkle the cut halves with the juice of one lemon.
Beat the whole eggs with the sugar until well blended and lastly beat in the butter.
Mix the flour with the baking powder and sift it over the sugar-butter mixture. Then stir the flour and salt into the mixture.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Grease the cake pan with a little butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Pour the dough into the prepared springform pan. Smooth the surface, spread the apple halves evenly on top and press them in lightly. Not too deep.
Bake the apple pie in the oven on the middle shelf for 50 minutes. Test the cake before taking it out of the oven.
Let the finished cake cool in the pan for a few minutes, later on a cooling rack. Sprinkle the sunken apple cake with powdered sugar.
