Cut the bread into slices and soak in the wine. Mix sugar and cinnamon and turn the bread slices in it to the other side. Peel the apples and cut them into thin slices.
In a buttered baking dish, alternate a layer of bread with butter flakes and a layer of apples with raisins. Then spread butter flakes evenly over the whole gratin.
Meanwhile, bake in the oven heated to 175 degrees on the second rack from the bottom for about forty-five minutes.
