For the simple slaw, quarter the head of white cabbage and cut out the stalk. Shred or finely chop the cabbage and put it in a bowl.
Sprinkle the salt over it and mix everything well – preferably with your hands: let the cabbage stand for a bit (10 – 15 minutes) so that the salt can draw out the water.
Mix the vinegar with the water, cumin and oil and season to taste, adding a little sugar if necessary, and mix the marinade with the cabbage salad.
Let it marinate for a while and serve. The simple coleslaw goes very well with sausages of all kinds and belongs in the classic mixed salad.
