For the chocolate cake, separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites with the vanilla sugar until stiff. Melt the chocolate. Sift together the flour and baking powder.
Cream butter, powdered sugar and egg yolks.Mix in the soft chocolate and almonds.Fold in flour and baking powder. Finally, add the beaten egg whites.
Butter and flour a standard loaf pan and pour in the mixture. Bake the chocolate cake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for approx. 45-50 minutes.
