A simple but delicious cake recipe:

Peel, quarter and core apples. Score on the convex side with flour and sprinkle with juice of one lemon Grease cake springform pan /26 cm and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Mix flour, 200g sugar and baking powder, add 200g butter in flakes and 2 eggs, knead to a dough. Press a good half of the dough into the pan as a base, pushing the edge up about 3 cm. Dice the marzipan, separate 2 eggs. Cream 100g butter and marzipan, fold in 80g curd cheese, vanilla sugar, sugar and egg yolks. Whip the egg whites until stiff and fold into the curd mixture. Spread the curd mixture evenly on the dough and smooth it down. Place the apple quarters on top with the bulge facing up and press lightly into the dough. Use your hands to pat the remaining dough into crumbles and sprinkle evenly over the apples. Bake in a heated oven (175 °C / 150 °C / gas mark 2) for 60 to 75 minutes.
