Rinse plums, dry, halve and remove seeds. Cut bacon into thin slices and fry briefly in a frying pan. Peel onion, cut into small cubes and sauté in the frying fat until translucent. Layer plums, bacon slices and onion cubes in a greased ovenproof dish. Stir wine, sugar, juice of one lemon and water and pour over plums. Put the dish on the rack in the gas oven and cook until done. Serve while still hot.
