A simple but delicious cake recipe:
Soak brown bread in boiling milk and crush finely.
Stir butter, sugar and egg yolks until the amount is about twice the volume. Mix soaked almonds, bread cubes, bread and cherries into the quantity, lastly fold in the very stiffly beaten egg whites.
Spread the mixture evenly in a buttered cake springform pan dusted with breadcrumbs and bake in a heated oven at 180 °C for about 3/4 to 1 hour. Cool in the form, exactly on a cake plate form. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and garnish with cherries.
