For the cabbage fritters with bacon, boil enough salted water in a pot and cook the fritters in it until al dente. Strain, briefly rinse in cold water and drain well. Meanwhile, cut cabbage (without stalk and coarse outer leaves) into small squares, chop onions finely. Cut bacon into small pieces and fry in hot lard. Add sugar and let it caramelize. Mix in onions, fry briefly and then add cabbage. Pour in some beef broth, add salt and pepper. Steam cabbage until tender, about 30 minutes, adding more beef broth if needed, but do not let it become too liquid.

Add drained Fleckerl and heat again briefly.

Before serving, season the Krautfleckerl with bacon with salt and pepper.
