For the strawberry-cherry jam, puree the pitted cherries and the washed and chopped strawberries a bit with a blender (there should be a few pieces left).
Place star anise in a tea infuser and add to the fruit mixture with the preserving sugar, bring to a boil and simmer for 8 minutes until bubbly.
Remove the tea infuser with the star anise and pour the jam into clean jars and seal tightly.
