For the Stars and Stripes Cake, first grate crushed cookies, rusks, oatmeal or cornflakes into a bowl. Mix in Nutella/butter and place in microwave. Heat at 600 watts for about 2 minutes. Do not cook! Remove from microwave and mix. Spread the mixture on the bottom of the baking dish and put it in the fridge for about 2 hours to firm up nicely.
Blend the curd with the sugar, grated lemon zest, lemon juice and vanilla sugar in a food processor.
Whip the whipped cream on high speed until stiff and set aside. Mix the agar agar with some of the curd mixture (2-3 tablespoons) and 200 ml milk, and boil for 2 minutes (be careful! The mixture is sticky and leaves nasty burn marks on unprotected forearms).
Quickly add this mixture to the curd mixture and mix. With the finger test you can check whether the mass is not too hot, because now the cream is folded in. If the mixture is too hot – the cream will melt!
Now take the baking pan with the cooled cookie dough out of the refrigerator and spread the curd cream on the bottom and smooth it out. Now put the cake back into the fridge for about 3 hours – so that it becomes nice and firm.
