Every once in a while, toddlers should be allowed to dine with their fingers as well.

These polenta pieces are perfect for this. But you can also serve them as a spoon meal with tomato sauce.

Mix polenta with milk and vegetable soup in a saucepan, stirring until it boils. Swell at low temperature for about 15 min, stirring occasionally. Rinse and clean carrots and broccoli. Grate carrots into fine strips using a food processor or vegetable grater. Chop broccoli so that the pieces are about the same size as the carrot shreds. Heat the butter or light butter and cook the vegetables in it for 2-3 minutes, stirring until al dente. Mix the grated vegetables and the egg into the polenta. Grease a small, shallow gratin dish. Preheat oven to 175 degrees (gas mark 2-3). Spread polenta about 2 cm thick into the gratin dish and bake in the heated oven for about 20 min. Let the polenta rest in the pan and then cut it into strips or cut it into any other shape.

grate the polenta finely and season it with salt and freshly ground pepper before baking.
