(*) Cooking as in Carinthia Dough: Make a smooth, not too firm dough from salt, flour, egg and water (knead for about 20 min). Leave to rest in the refrigerator for one night.

Filling: Steam the finely chopped onion in butter until translucent. Add the bread cubes and fry lightly. When they are golden brown, put the onions and bread cubes in a large enough bowl and pour enough milk over them to soak the bread cubes. Add the egg, the spices and the garlic. Form small balls with wet hands.

Roll out the cooled dough and cut it into long strips.

Place the balls on top, and cover with another strip of dough. Using a pastry wheel, cut the dough into small pieces around the filling. With your fingers, press the edge closed. Put the filled pasta in boiling salted water and let it stand for about a quarter of an hour.

It is advisable to take a sample noodle to determine the correct cooking time.

Take the “Kasnudeln” out of the water, drain them and put them on a plate. Pour melted butter over them.
