Spruce tips in a 1 1/2 l screw-top jar form. Heat cane sugar in saucepan until liquid and pour hot over spruce tips. Close jar and place in window in the sun for six to eight weeks. Shake once a day. Then pour through a sieve and keep the syrup tightly closed in the screw jar. It will keep in the refrigerator for about a year.
For coughs, take 1 tablespoon two or three times a day.
