For the BBQ sauce, first peel the onion, garlic and ginger and blend in a food processor with the chili pepper to a fine paste.
Heat some olive oil in a pot. Add the paste with the spices, herbs and sugar and sweat for 5 minutes. Deglaze with orange and lemon juice and let it reduce a bit.
Add the ketchup, mustard, Worcester sauce and paprika and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes.
Strain the BBQ sauce through a sieve and season to taste with salt and pepper.
